The Bhagavad gita comprising 700 verses in 18 chapters is a practical guide on how to live an ethical life DESPITE the world and its problems. The teaching comes directly out of the Upaniṣhads (the wisdom of the Vēdās) but is laid out in a form that is easy to assimilate.
The weekly online (Zoom) classes are on Sunday mornings starting at 10am with questions from the previous week’s class, followed by an hour of teaching and then finished with a Q&A. The classes are recorded and the class video and audio are distributed to the attendees. A transcript is also circulated. This allows for absent members to catch up as well as review what was in the last class. A WhatsApp group allows class participants to share views and raise questions. Ram is also available via email and (if the need arises) via phone.
Weekly classes start: Sunday 10 November @10am.
Each class costs £8 and is paid for in blocks of 7 classes at £56 a block.
Zoom details will be sent on registration.(All proceeds go directly to the Charity which runs the annual World Yōga Festival.)
If you are a new student and are unsure whether this is right for you then join the first 3 classes for free (just register your interest by writing to us at contact@yogafestival.world). If you decide that this is right for you then simply pay for the first block of classes and join your fellow students to continue this incredible journey.
This will be Ram’s second time teaching the Gitā and many of his students from the first time, have expressed a wish to study again in order to extract even greater detail. If you only have time to study one ancient text containing the wisdom of the Vēdās, that text should be the Bhagavad Gitā.
What can you expect from the study? Here are a few comments from past students:
“The Baghavad Gita journey has been a joy. At times it has challenged me. Or maybe it’s that the external life was challenging as I was trying to grow and change and the Gita helped me have the courage to keep going. Strangely, I’ve rarely had questions or if I have they’ve always been answered in the next class. To the point where I wonder if I’m listening carefully enough. I’ve learnt to trust the process though. I find Sanskrit words popping into my mind that stay for hours or days. I may not remember exactly what it means but I sit with the energy. Then I find out what it means and it’s always resonated......... The teachings have enriched my life. They’ve made sense of things I was already called to be and do and have helped me find my way and be more in my true nature. I guess I’ve been a correspondence student, which in itself was a journey of acceptance. Each and every class has been exactly when I’ve needed to hear that very teaching. Sometimes my husband has happened to come
in and hear just a sentence or two that have profoundly affected him to the point where he now asks “what would Ram say” in certain situations.”Cristie (2023)
“All respect and gratitude for your hard work in giving up the last two and a half years to the teaching of The Gita. It has been a truly wonderful journey and has deepened my understanding of how to follow a Dharmic life. I feel a deep sense of loss having completed the course and have a large gap to fill on a Sunday morning.”Kadambari 2023
“I have studied the Bhagavad Gita previously as part of yoga teacher training and remember thinking it was very God heavy and rather off-putting for me. Oh dear, maybe I’ve matured a bit since. I enjoyed every single study class of the Bhagavad Gita with Ram, so much so that when we reached Chapter 16 I began to worry that I would miss the teachings when it ended, and asked if we could start again at a more detailed level! ......What was so good about it? It included everything in life in great detail, it was about me, the world and mind-blowingly about God and I think I began to understand it, or at least, it seemed to make sense.”Julia 2023
“I am very happy that I took this journey through the Gita. I never expected the journey would take 2.5 years, as initially I thought the first block of sessions I signed up to, covered the whole Gita. But instead of a broad overview, we got a detailed, verse by verse, discussion which allowed us to go deep into the text. And perhaps, if one would have said at the start of the journey, how long it would take, how many would have actually taken the first step ? The lesson here is perhaps: go step by step, and before you know, you will have reached the goal that initially seemed so far away. I very much liked that recordings and written material were provided for. Moreover, we are always able to ask questions, either in writing or orally, and received a prompt reply.”
